Why we built PlayWordQuest

We watched children - clever, curious kids - freeze in front of vocab questions because they hadn't seen the word before. Not because they weren't capable. Because preparation had been an afterthought.

I wanted something my child would actually open every day - not because I told them to, but because they wanted to see their dragon take damage.

- The PlayWordQuest team · Parents & educators

That is why we built PlayWordQuest: to make 11+ vocabulary practice feel easier to start, easier to repeat, and more enjoyable to keep going. The app turns word learning into short daily quests with word cards, practice activities, rewards, and boss battles, so children can build confidence one word at a time.

We also create printable worksheets and practical 11+ vocabulary tips for families who want extra support at home. Whether your child prefers screen-based practice, paper activities, or simple study advice, our goal is the same: to help tricky words feel familiar before they appear in a real test.

The problem

  • Vocabulary lists that children ignore
  • Flashcard apps that feel like homework
  • No feedback loop - no idea what's actually sticking
  • Revision done in big, stressful bursts

Our answer

  • A game your child asks to play
  • 10-minute sessions that fit any schedule
  • Clear progress: XP, levels, cards mastered
  • Built-in spaced repetition - no setup needed

Our principles

Game-first, learning second

If children don't want to open the app, nothing works. We obsess over the game loop first - the learning follows naturally.

Evidence-based methods

Every design decision is grounded in cognitive science: spaced repetition, active recall, interleaving. No guesswork.

Built with parents

We talk to parents weekly. The app evolves based on what actually helps families - not what sounds good in a pitch.

Simple by design

No overwhelming dashboards. No confusing settings. A child should be able to open it and start learning in under 10 seconds.
